Hi, my name is Isumi. I’m a Japanese-German freelance cultural manager, dramaturg and interpreter whilst working part-time at the cultural department of the Goethe-Institut. In 2024 I spent an 8-month sabbatical in Berlin and was part of the festival team for the 60th anniversary edition of Jazzfest Berlin.

My passion is supporting the arts, connecting people and enabling them to have a wonderful cultural experience. Equally, I want to enable access to Japanese texts and culture which might otherwise be restricted to exclusively native speakers.

I specialize in jazz music as well as translations in cultural contexts, intercultural exchange and teaching Japanese. I was inveted to be part of the expert jury board for the German Jazz Prize and the Jeazzahead.
I’ve worked with various established and up-coming artists and translated for renowned clients in various fields.

You are welcome to contact me if you would like to work together on your next project or if you just want to say hi.
